Distance Programs for the Pandemic

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I was challenged to deliver quality programs to the Naval Base Guam community while adhering to safety guidelines, including social distancing. I designed a program for the USO called Boredom Busters where military families could pick up a different activity kit each week. My job was to procure the materials, assemble up to 140 kits, design the posters and inserts, and deliver them via drive-thru in a designated parking lot. The program was immensely successful, with families waiting in line up to 30 minutes early to ensure they got a kit!

Movie Night Kits

Military kids were out for the summer but had to stay home because of the pandemic. So I created a program that helped them have fun experiences at home. In this example, I handed out Movie Night Kits that included popcorn and popcorn bags (like how you’d get it in the theater), soda cans, and more. Families also got to choose from a stack of DVD and Blu-ray titles to take home and keep.

Drive Thru Delivery

The drive-thru format made the delivery easy and safe for military families. Every week, we delivered a new fun activity. The program was hugely successful and became so popular that a line of up to 20 vehicles would pile up 30 minutes before the drive-thru opened. Children would look forward to their kits each week, and parents would rush to get in line during their lunch breaks for a coveted Boredom Buster kit.
