Boredom Busters
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I was challenged to find a method of delivering quality programs to the Naval Base Guam community while maintaining safety guidelines, including social distancing. I designed a program for the USO called Boredom Busters where military families could pick up a different activity kit each week. My job was to procure the materials, assemble up to 140 kits, design the posters and inserts, and deliver these in a drive-thru fashion in a designated parking lot. The program was immensely successful, with families waiting in line up to 30 minutes early to ensure they get a kit!
Gratitude, all the way.
There are many ways of expressing gratitude and I believe the cheesier, the better! My background in retail taught me that packaging is half the fun. Something as simple as a gift tag can make all the difference in a product’s impact. These Lifesavers for U.S. Naval Hospital workers were so cute, it was featured on @TheUSO’s Instagram with over 117K followers and my gift tag design was replicated in other USOs in the Pacific.
Brace for Impact
I do my best to deliver that WOW effect at each of my events, but it’s not always easy to do on a budget. This fun candy land backdrop was made for a back-to-school Ice Cream Social for military kids. It took over 500 balloons, 9 hours of assembly, $56, and a lot of determination to create.
